I wonder if a few people on here need to give the advice line a ring & check their benefits.

I claim carers allowance & also get income support with various premiums for me & my husband, child tax credits for my son who is 14, complete council tax rebate, free dental, prescriptions, opticians, school meals etc. We would get housing benefit if we rented. My husband also gets his DLA & I get my sons DLA. We aren't rolling in it but neither do I need to worry about food or bills.

If in doubt, why not ring the carers line or the govt benefits advice line who we have found to be very useful in the past.

debra i had the same thoughts and put a post "benefit check" to inform people that the help is there, dla is not there to pay rent and council tax other benefits are available to help you.
