There has been a new warden appointed at Dad`s sheltered housing complex.
The service has been reduced to once a day and most of the emergency call outs are still being directed to me, but I am learning to suggest they contact the new warden in the first instance.
The war is not over yet as the council continue to expect full payment for a halved service, so that is still ongoing.
Council have also agreed to look at safer access to all the houses (dad`s ramp is now completed) and address other general repairs to the locus which are sadly in a bad state of repair. Nearest car park is up 10 steep steps and we rely on the good will of an hotel and a farmer to park in the farm road or hotel car park when visiting.
Thank you for all your support.
Take care
Meg

Two lots of good news in one day......
I have also had a call from the financial ombudsman telling me my previous breakdown insurers who insisted we be taken to a particular garage, not taken to our destination where the car would have been fixed under warranty, costing me 160 quid have been told to refund in full plus 8% per month interest!
Considering asking the financial ombudsman to look into the warden fees situation for us. Everyone I dealt with were really kind and listened carefully to my point of view, which I was able to back up with documentation. Can do this over the warden fees too, so feel we have nothing to lose.
Take care

Meg & Dad, well done for all your persistance and getting a warden re-established. You've got this far through sheer determination. Now just the matter of over-charging to sort out ...

The financial ombudsman service have agreed to look at our papertrail with a view to making the council give a refund for the months of non service.
Hopefully the care commission will back us up that the new service delivers half the warden did before and the monthly charges should be reduced accordingly.

The council have until the end of this month to agree to a refund for the time there was no warden service. If still no response, then the Financial Ombudsman will be let loose to do battle with them.
