Hi there,
I am a trainee counselling psychologist studying for a doctorate at London Metropolitan University carrying out a piece of research investigating the experiences of younger people diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.
If you are caring for, or know of anyone below the age of 65yrs with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease who you think may be interested in sharing their experiences in a confidential setting, please get in touch by sending me a private message.
I am based in south-east London, therefore, am looking for individuals living in or around the London area where possible. The research will involve a one hour 'conversation' about the individuals experiences. I have gained ethical approval from the university to carry out the study.
For further information or to register your interest please contact me by private message.
Many thanks!

I doubt my experience would be any use,as my daughter (aged now 40yrs old)was diagnosed with Atypical dementia some years ago. the added problem is that she also has learning disabilities. In my city of over a million ..there is no designated day care nor any specialist practical input for E.A.D and L/D! Believe me NO one seems to care once L/D and early age is mentioned !!
I particularly want to draw this to your attention as you are training in the type of profession that should support and help a family like mine, and should be given as much information about this area as you want for E.A. Alzheimers sufferers.
I only answered your message as no one else has yet. And fully realise you asked re Alzheimers and not 'Dementia'.

Hi Jeanette,
Sorry for the late response to your message & thank you for responding to my initial post. Yes you are right in thinking that unfortunately I am looking to recruit participants with Alzheimer's only. But thank you for raising the issue to my attention in terms of service provision for individuals such as your daughter with E.A.D & L/D. It is not something that I was aware of & is definitely something that I should give more thought to given the profession I am training in. I have observed in my work experiences so far that there are a number of individuals that don't quite 'fit' into one service or another & they just seem to get passed from one place to the next without there being the adequate services to provide for them. I can only imagine how frustrating that must be for you and your family.
Thank you again for responding to my post. It has certainly given me some food for thought!
