Oh Anne I do feel for your and your husband - it must be so hard for you to see your daughter like this. Sending you (((((((((hugs)))))))))).

I have just looked up the the TopShop ad you mentioned and I agree it's awful - that poor girl looks fit to drop! It can't be right :(

Do keep us posted and let us know how your daughter is getting on.

Lots of love,

Hi Cupcake,
Just to let you know things are going much better now and my daughter seems to be settling down. They have been introducing Calogen smoothie drinks in small doses which she is managing to keep down. We have seen a marked improvement in her in just two days. The mood swings and depression seem to be on hold, "great" and she is having fun with the nurses. She has even taken up cross stitch. I hope this is the start of her recovery. The only thing I am afraid of is when she comes home and weighs will she panic and start the whole thing again? :)
Bye for now

Hi Anne. my daughter Charlie was diagnosed with anorexia 2 years ago. she was not living with me at the time of diagnosis. I became a single parent in 2008. Charlie also has post traumatic stress disorder, severe depression. i was working full time and could not go to Charlie's appointments so found it difficult to know how to help her.I moved in with Charlie last feb but it was only in oct when i left work i was able to go to all Charlie's appointments where i found out more, even then it was difficult to get her to eat and it got stressful if i tried to push her. Finally in december she finally realised things had to change and volunteered to be admitted to the specialist eating disorders unit in Seacroft Leeds. She went in a week before Christmas so was not at home for that or new year. For the next 6 weeks i traveled a round trip of 48 miles twice a week.while there she put weight on and learnt a variety of useful information. she is now home and we see a community team together so am now learning what i can do to help her. We just take one day at a time and we find this helps. Myself and Charlie wish you and your daughter the best of luck for the future

Hi Emma and Charlie,
Thank you so much for your message, I am sorry I haven,t been on the forum for some time, so I am only reading your message today. Firstly well done Charlie for gaining some weight I know how hard that must have been for you. My daughter has been going to a new group called The contemplation group where they can discuss with others how things have been in the week, she found it hard at first especially talking to others, but things have started to alter this last 3 weeks, hoorah!!!!. Her weight has gone up about a stone since hospital. Now what,s happening she has a strong craving for dried packs of fruit and is eating at least 3 packs a day and now her stomach feels quite big and uncomfortable, so another problem. Well at least she is eating. I know how you are feeling Emma its so hard you feel helpless and get so frustrated. I wish there was a magic pill they could take. I only hope things are on the turn for our girls and lets hope they will be on that road to recovery soon. Well you take of yourself, and good luck Charlie on your recovery. Any time you want to have a moan or just want to talk just get in touch again ok.
Bye for now

Hi Anne. Thank you for your messege. Charlie has the same problem with the stomach being uncomfortable, get her to try some peppermint tea and get her to drink it as warm as she can, hopefully this may help. Well done to your daughter on her weight gain. Charlie is not good talking to people in a group, she has a good eating disorders councillor who she is seeing but even then she sometimes finds it difficult to talk. we are in the middle of organising her 21st birthday party at the end of may.as you say its a pity there's no magic pills that would sort our girls out, its not nice to see them go through this problem, but i am sure that we can get them through it even if it takes a long time, all we can do is be there to support and love them for as long as it takes to get them well.Good luck to you and your daughter. Emma :)
