Going from bad to worse here....

Had not long returned home from Dad having his heart scan when I had a call from the Highland Hub in Inverness who run the alarmcall to say dad had pulled the red cord, wasn`t very coherent and I would have to go over and check he was alright (this is a cracker)....as the warden was in the hairdressers having her hair done......Warden?? which warden, we don`t have a warden.

Anyway gets OH up and we go over to find Dad sitting (dressed) on the toilet, but he couldn`t get up. Morning homecarer had left towels strewn over the bathroom floor so he couldn`t get his trolley in or bend down to pick them up, and his legs went to pins and needles when he went to get up. Gets Dad settled in recliner to watch tv and came home and phoned the hub.

The lady was brilliant and I explained the issues we have had since last autumn and she has logged it all and will pass it on to her command centre as feedback and hopefully this will make someone sit up and do something. At least now the Highland Hub know there is no warden!!

Take care
Meg

Highland council have today announced the council tax will be frozen for the coming year. Also that the warden fees will not increase for the second year running. I would think not!

Latest update from housing department is that they MAY be able to advertise the desk bound position in a few weeks.

Dad has been back in touch with the local paper to update them.

Had an interesting email from a local chap who wants to help the cause, so waiting for him to arrange to visit Dad sometime soon.

Meeting set up for Monday 2pm. Nick hopes to be able to help and has full support of our MP, both being LibDems. He has printed off the council`s policy which shows them saying they can provide 24/7 365 warden cover, that with Dad`s proof and the emails should give him some good ammunition. Will keep you posted.

David and I live in a 2 bed sheltedred housing bungalow, and opposite us are the Sheltered housing bedsits, we attended a meeting in our communal lounge, and was told that according to North Norfolk District Council, they are not going to fund our social landlords any more,to relet the bedsits, they are going to be demolished, there is even talk about them pulling down the entire site, and rebuilding on it, even our 2 bed bungalows, so when they become vacant they will not relt those either, they the NNDC Will know what is going to happen in July, but we will not be told until October, we have 4 site wardens but neither of them live on site, will keep you up to date of any future developements,xx Love Maggie xx

Latest debachel...............

Council were informed there were two current members of staff who had previous warden experience and they should use one of them in the interim as still no warden job being advertised.

Last week Dad was introduced to the lady who was going to stand in, but office based and allowed 8 minutes per house when she has to visit. She came the following day and announced Dad was to use the hub if he needed help as she was going on leave! This weekend has been taken up with highland hub calling repeatedly as they can`t get Dad to respond to them shouting at him through the intercom!

Back to the drawing board........

Meg I think you should get the TV media involved. Rip off Britain, or local news or similar ... The whole thing is ridiculous, has been going on forever and is not improving, despite your dad and your best efforts.

Sadly Melly the press are not interested in following up the original story because they have been "embargoed" by the council press office.

I was called last night at 11.40pm by highland hub as the lady on nightshift wasn`t sure if the lady on dayshift had been able to contact Dad or myself over the weekend, so they obviously don`t communicate either.

It is keeping Dad in good spirits (not alcohol thankfully) and he is determined to outlive them however long it takes to get some system in place. I visited this morning and he was fine, but no idea when the stand in warden (stand up comic as he calls her) is due to return.

Will keep you posted.

Had a call from Dad last night to say he had received another letter of lies from the Council. He phoned the writer and told him he had been bullied enough and was going to seek further legal advice and quoted three instances where they had broken the law. The council chap wouldn`t have got a word in edgeways!

I contacted the chap who helped as before as a go between with the council and he has a couple of irons in the fire with the finance (they take the money but don`t provide the service) and housing office (advertise the warden service but fail to provide it). Meetings with both tomorrow, so we are meeting at Dad`s this afternoon so he can see the latest letter and be right up to speed.

I have been back in touch with STV this morning and hope to have a reply before I have to go out, or he will be getting their contact details too.

Time this old ship was blown clean out of the water!

Take care
