Two leading experts in the field of elderly and dementia care, from the Priory Group, are speaking at a special conference in the North East.

Sharon Butler and Dr Daniel Nightingale will headline the 2010 Dementia Conference, hosted by SJB Associates, to be held at the Xcel Conference Centre in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham on 30th September 2010.

The theme of the conference is ‘Nutrition and Cognitive Stimulation Therapy for people living with Dementia’. Sharon and Dr Nightingale will share their expertise on ‘A positive dining experience for people living with Dementia’.

Sharon Butler is managing director of Priory Care Homes, part of the Priory Group. Sharon is driving forward the company’s ambitious expansion plans in the elderly care sector. Having worked in senior management within the two largest care home groups, Sharon has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the care of people with dementia.

Dr Nightingale is well-known throughout the field of dementia care. He is head of dementia services at Priory Care Homes and is progressive and forward thinking, placing a huge emphasis on person-centred and person-focussed care. Most recently he published the Nightingale Model of Enriched Care and completed a pilot project on the use of Montessori in Dementia Care.
