Pneumonia vaccine for Carers?

Hi can anyone tell me if they have had a pneumonia vaccine before the age of 65 and if so did you have any side affects?

Also as a Carer am I entitled to getting the pneumonia vaccine before the age of 65?

Thank you
I had one once and I believe I was told it would last a lifetime. I had it together with a flu vaccine one year and am under 65 but entitled to the flu jab as an asthmatic adwell as being a carer. I was under the impression they had "gone out of fashion" but I can't rememebr where I heard that.

as far as I am aware the pneumonia vaccine is not automatically available to Carers (unlike the flu vaccine which is). I had one a few years back (over 65) and now I'm over 70 have just been offered the shingles one.
Thank you all for your replies.

I spoke to the receptionist at my Dr's today to check my appointment with the nurse tom only to be told that I was not entitled to the pneumonia jab.

After looking at the link on information for vaccines that Chris kindly posted, I discovered that I am entitled to the vaccine as I have chronic kidney disease!

My appointment is now cancelled and the nurse who said I was entitled to it made clear that I make an appointment soon as there is only a small amount left!

Why do Dr's receptionists think that they know it all!
