Feel low and lonely

Socialise and chat about other areas of your life
Hi , having a bad day feeling low and lonely , just wondering if there is any one that would like to have a chat x Mel
Sorry to hear that. I know this sounds trivial, but I'm moaning about the chilly weather this week! We've been spoilt by so much prematurely warm weather that I feel miffed it's turned 'normal' again.

Is there anything in particular casting you down? Anything you want to offload, or just a general 'meh'?!

I think, sometimes, when one is a carer, we see 'everyone else' looking forward to the weekend (especially when it's a bank holiday weekend) and we think, yes, well, for me it's just same old caring again......

This may be 'cold comfort', but I wonder if, this being a 'down day' for you, if you could use it to get something done you've been putting off for a while, and then at least if it stays a 'meh' day, you can still have the satisfaction of knowing you've got something unpleasant done and dusted, so it won't loom over you any longer?

My mother used to say, 'When you're down, work. You may still be down at the end of it, but you'll have got useful things done all the same'. She was annoyingly right!

(Conversely, can you find a little treat for yourself?)(or even get the unpleasant task out of the way and THEN treat yourself!!!:) )

Hoping things pick up soon - KR, Jenny
Hi Jenny thank u for replying, yes bank holiday is here everyone is doing something! I care for my son he has Autism he struggles with every day life and finds it hard to go out . Got no friends, I have a big family but they won't or don't understand his needs so they just keep away . I just want to feel like a mum and me again and not just a carer as I have 2 other children . Xx thank u for listening.
Hi Mel, I have a son with severe learning difficulties, now 38. Everyone else looks forwards to Bank Holidays, I dread them all!! Day services shut, more visitors in our area (New Forest) so too busy on the roads etc. etc. The way I deal with it is to try and plan something which avoids the visitors as much as possible. When it's back to normal I treat myself to a day or two doing things I want to do. Like sewing, no energy involved at all!
I understand how you feel mel. every day does feel like a challange sometimes and its just as bad as its a 3 day weekend. keep your head up it could be worse ive managed to catch a stomach bug and its completly wiped me of my feet. whats worse is i caught it from my partner who i care for!
Thank you everyone for your kind words, it's nice to know I'm not just the only one . Hope we can still keep on chatting xx
Mel i came to this site last week as i was feeling low and with no one to talk to as i was told in the member area there is a role call its a great place to chat to many of us and get your day to day issues off your chest. since ive found this group ive realized that we are not alone.
I have low and lonely times too. Hubby in a nursing home. I do not like bank holidays either. Having said that, I can feel very sad when I see other older couples out and about together, at any time. I don't resent them but I feel envious. I visit hubby every other day. Sometimes a good visit, others not so good. Part of dementia I'm afraid. I do have a very supportive family. They have to get on with everyday living, and I try not to tell them too often if I'm down. It's bad enough for them with hubby's decline . Sound a bit woe is me don't I. The home look after him well, which is a comfort.
I find this site very useful to come to when feeling low. It helps me keep a happier smilier face to my caree and yet still feel and express my feelings, which s an important part of staying mentally and emotionally well

Mel, theres threads on here on improving low mood and on caring for autism you may find useful
