A One Way Ticket To Ride ?

Socialise and chat about other areas of your life
Occasionly , an article covering a serious issue ( For those affected ) can also be read as somewhat farcical by the action taken to " Remedy " it :

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/ho ... 05606.html

Hundreds of homeless people given one-way tickets to other areas by their local councils

Charities accuse councils of 'passing the buck' to transfer responsibility to other areas.

The headline says it all ... genefication of many areas in London has produced a similar remedy ... those on the waiting lists of London LAs rehoused in other towns and cities.

Would be somewhat " Entertaining " to learn that , after a year of issuing one way tickets , the numbers of homeless people has not changed from town to town ... for example ... Bournemouth ... 100 out , 100 coming in from other towns.

Perhaps British Rail now considered to be an arm of Shelter ?

Do British Rail provide food bank facilities on their new " Homeless " 125s ???

Americans used to call them " Hobo Specials " in the 1930s ... and now again in the 2010s ... for some.

What's next ?

A British Rail rover ticket ... a month's travel free provided one does not get off the train and " Blight " whichever town ???

Stations renamed to reflect the root cause of homelessness ... " Drug Abuse , next stop ! Change here for Alcohol Addiction ! " ... ?

How many platforms will the new station " Universal Credit Rollout " have ???

Tom Hanks to appear in " Terminal 2 " , set in the UK with nowhere to go outside a British Rail train ?

Ken Loach would be my choice for director.

If purely for a tv drama , Jimmy McGovern.

UK actor ? Ray Winstone ... or Jimmy Nail ( In character as Oz ).

Author's note ... being homeless is traumatic for anyone , and yes , some are almost beyond help.

The way the Powers to Be deal with it is little short of criminal.
I read what you said and even looked at the link and I do find that shocking but I don't see how that links into Carers UK or other parts of it. I do care as a carer and even volunteer with soup kitchen every night to give homeless people something hot to eat and drink and were and when possible warm and dry clothing. However as a carers I don't see how that links into carers. Maybe I miss that point if so do in-lighting me. I also agree it an issue that does need to be addressed but again can not see how that would link in to carers uk or any part of it.
Gorden
Hi Gorden ... the link is how the system deals with issues , incuded under this section " Fun and Games " which tends to be general as opposed to carer orientated.

As a stand alone article , nothing whatsoever to do with carers , hence this section for it's farcical nature.

The move to the News Section , which I have just noticed , is not of my doing ... originally posted in the Fun and Games section.

It that respect , I too would share your concern.

Perhaps whosoever moved this thread will consider moving it back again ?
