The seminar aims to bring together health and social care professionals including commissioning teams, social care team leaders, carer co-ordinators, PPI leads, equality officers and others who work with carers to ask: What are the barriers to engagement? Why are carers seen as a hard to reach target group? What works?
Joe Duffy, author of 'Looking out from the middle: User involvement in health and social care in Northern Ireland' (2008), will examine recommendations and themes arising from this report. He will be joined by his research colleague Brendan McKeever, a former carer. Brian O'Hagan will describe the carer's experience of involvement in the design and delivery of a Trust's user and carer involvement practices.
The event takes place on Tuesday 29th November from 10.00am to 1.00pm, followed by lunch, in Grosvenor House, Belfast. There is no charge to attend.
