What we were asked to do
To produce a strategy for the provision of information for carers
What we did
We reviewed the Local Authority, Health and Third Sector information for carers and consulted carers about their information needs. We worked with all stakeholders to develop a carers information and communication strategy.
Outcome
A strategy has been produced that clearly identifies what carers want and when; it sets out a consistent approach to the development of information material with clearly defined information pathways and checklists for professionals.

What we were asked to do
Produce recommendations for improving all internal and external services for carers.
What we did
- Gathered and analysed local information, including, demographic data, future predictions, local surveys and research, and the Joint Strategy Needs Assessment.
- Reviewed and evaluated the existing services to carers – established a services and performance baseline.
- Consulted and involved all key stakeholders.
Outcome
Our report sets out how to improve services and achieve:
- a consistency across the different service user teams
- effective implementation of personalisation for carers
- better integration with Health and other stakeholders
- improving the transition for young carers, from Children and Young People’s services to Adult Social Care
- better Third Sector services
Client :London Borough of Hackney
What we were asked to do
To increase awareness of carer issues among staff from the Children’s and Young Persons teams and enable them to undertake carers’ assessments that meet the personalisation agenda
What we did
We held workshops with key senior managers and frontline staff to identify the main issues and level of knowledge.
Outcome
We produced a pack for training frontline workers with examples of good practice.
