This intensive half-day course is aimed at those who already have a good knowledge of community care law and want to ensure that they are up to date with trends emerging from caselaw and with new legislation and guidance. It provides an opportunity for structured discussion of current legal issues in community care law. The content is subject to change depending on intervening legal developments. There will inevitably be some overlap between this course and Community Care Law: Advanced, and undertaking them in close proximity is not recommended.
AIMS
· to provide up-to-date information on community care case law and its impact
· to present recent and current developments in legislation and guidance
· to identify likely future trends
INCLUDES as appropriate depending on legal developments:
· lawful assessments in light of developing regulations, guidance and caselaw
· human rights and community care law
· current health and social care issues including continuing care, carers’ rights and mental capacity
· updates on charging and direct payments
