Charging is one of the most contentious areas in the community care debate. This course provides an opportunity to examine the main issues in England and Wales and an update on any recent developments. It is suitable for finance manager and officers as well as other groups of professionals in the statutory and voluntary sectors

 

AIMS

To give particiapnts a good understanding of the current charging regime by:

·        outlining who does not have to pay for care

·        describing the law and guidance relating to charging

·         considering  the recent major changes in residential and non-residential charging procedures

·        Section 49 of the Health and Social Care Act and NHS funded Nursing Care

·        the National Assistance Act 1948 and residential accommodation charges

·        notional assets and charge avoidance
