Carers hand over 8,000 messages to Gordon Brown calling for overhaul of carer benefits

07 November 2007

A group of carers went to Downing Street today to hand over 8,000 postcards which have been sent by carers around the country.

Here are a selection of some of the comments that were sent to Gordon Brown.

I care 24/7 for £48 a week. How much am I saving you and the Government?

I am not going to stop caring for my son when I claim old age pension. Carer's Allowance should not be stopped.

I had to leave work in May 2007 to look after my Mum and Dad. I have a flat and car which due to the amount of money will have to go.
