Candis Outstanding Family Award of the Year 2008

They have asked Carers UK to help publicise it because carers are a group who make huge contributions to society both by caring but also through campaigning, raising money for good causes or offering support to other carers. Carers UK research "Adding Value" found that as well as an £87 billion contribution to society, carers also did voluntary work that was valued at an addtional one billion a year. Nearly one in ten carers were putting in more than 30 hours a month, on top of their caring responsibilities.

Candis Magazine are looking for families who go that extra mile, for example they may be caring for a sick or disabled member of the family but together they also run a support group, or do charity fundraising or campaign for a better deal in their local communities. The Candis Outstanding Family of the Year Award is to celebrate a whole family’s achievements so it's not about just one person's efforts. There is no age limit, but they do ask that more than one generation is involved. You can nominate a family you know or you can nominate yourselves.

The winning family will be announced on July 10th 2008 at a gala presentation lunch at Chester Zoo for the six regional finalists. The prize is a fantastic all-inclusive family holiday to Cyprus. The five runners up will each receive a cash prize of £250 and a goody bag full of special treats.
