Test out new training course for carers

14 August 2008

Caring with Confidence, a new programme which will help carers make a positive difference to their life, and that of the person they care for, is looking for carers to help test it to make sure it meets carers needs.

The new Caring with Confidence programme will cover topics such as coping with being a carer, managing your finances, balancing your caring role with other aspects of your life and looking after yourself.

Previously referred to as the expert carers programme (ECP), Caring with Confidence will enable carers to mix and match how they further develop their knowledge and skills - by taking part in one or more free, local group sessions, by using self learning packs or by accessing online resources.

Carers who volunteer will be asked to take part in a short try-out  in the first week of September:

  • you will receive one self-study pack – and have around 20 days to complete it (it should take no more than 2-3 hours in total) before 25 October. You will receive self-study phone support during this time
  • Once you have completed the self-study pack, send off a feedback form
  • Volunteers who take part in phone interviews (late October) to help evaluate the self-study packs will receive a £25 M&S gift voucher.  There will be 21 of these phone interviews.

If you are interested in taking part contact alex.welsh@eppcic.co.uk  by 26 August. If you have any questions, you can phone Alex on 0113 385 4491.
