Carers target local election candidates

03 April 2007

Carers in Wigan and Leigh in the North West had a letter published in their local paper highlighting the need for carers' concerns to be addressed in the local election campaign.

Carers in Wigan and Leigh were concerned that carers' issues were not being given enough prominence locally and and so they have taken advantage of the publicity surrounding public services in the local election - they submitted a letter to their local paper highlighting that carers are often left 'high and dry' and calling for candidates to put the needs of carers at the top of the political agenda"

Their letter has been published in the local press and has received several responses, sparking a debate about the support provided for carers.

Make sure your local election candidates know about carers' needs!
