Payroll Giving

What is payroll giving?

Payroll giving is a simple, tax effective way to give to Carers UK directly from your pay.  You can give a regular amount direct from your monthly salary.  Choosing to donate to Carers UK through payroll giving also provides us with regular and reliable donations, helping us plan ahead and provide free advice, guidance and support for the growing population of carers.

How does it work?

Providing that your employer offers a Payroll Giving scheme it couldn't be simpler.  You authorise your employer to deduct charitable donations from your pay.  Your employer then pays those donations to a payroll giving agency approved by HM Revenue & Customs.  The agency then distributes the money to Carers UK.  If your employer does not offer a scheme, then you could suggest they start one!

Giving more now costs less

Employee's pledge to Carers UK Actual cost to employee @ 20% tax Actual cost to employee @ 40% tax
£5.00 £4.00 £3.00
£10.00 £8.00 £6.00

As an example, if you are a basic rate tax payer at 20% and donate a monthly amount of £5.00 to Carers UK, then you will receive £1.00 of tax relief, so this donation will end up costing you £4.00.  If you donate £10.00 to Carers UK through payroll giving then it will only cost you £8.00.

It really does make sense to give to charities via this simple and tax effective method.
