Carers UK provides high quality advice and information to carers and the professionals who support carers. This is available through our websites, helpline, booklets and factsheets.
CarersLine is Carers UK's dedicated helpline for carers. Staffed by experts, CarersLine has years of experience of dealing with the problems carers face.
Our expert advice means some carers are thousands of pounds better off. In one week in 2005 we helped carers claim £30,000. Demand for the service far outstrips what Carers UK can provide. Last year we dealt with 18,300 enquiries, yet demand was in the region of 60,000.
With 2 million people becoming carers for the first time each year it is essential people new to caring receive information about their entitlements. £746 million in carer benefits goes unclaimed in one year alone. Every December Carers UK holds Carers Rights Day to make sure carers understand about their entitlements to benefits and how to get help.
In 2006 nearly 800 organisations across the UK held events to tell thousands of carers about their rights. 30,000 carers benefited from Carers UK’s advice and information guides. Carers UK made the national news by launching research that showed how long it took many carers to get access to the help they needed.
