She stepped down from GMTV in 2008 to spend more time with her young children and care her her elderly father who has Alzheimer's Disease. Fiona said: "My own experiences, helping to care for both of my parents, have showed me just how important it is to support carers and raise awareness of the incredible work they do. Carers UK's work is vital - campaigning for a better deal for carers, so that they no longer face the terrible penalties of ill-health, poverty, isolation and discrimination as a result of caring for friends or family."

Richard Briers

Known and loved for roles in The Good Life and Monarch of the Glen as well as work in film and on stage, Richard Briers also starred in DAD, a drama for Comic Relief about a husband caring for his wife with Alzheimer’s disease. Richard says: “I support Carers UK, and the work they do to speak up for the millions of people who give their lives caring for friends and family members who need support. Too many carers end up isolated, in ill-health and struggling to make ends meet in return for the huge contribution they make to our society, and Carers UK are working to change this.”

Alison Steadman

Film and stage actress Alison Steadman first became involved with Carers UK because she and her sister cared for her mother when she became seriously ill. Alison Steadman says, "Carers UK is a special organisation doing momentous things for the UK's 6 million carers and I am delighted to be involved with them."

Tony Hawks

Comedian, writer and regular on BBC television and radio, Tony Hawks is a vocal supporter of Carers UK. "I'm supporting Carers UK as it is an effective charity that works tirelessly to get a better deal for carers on very limited resources. I also think that carers do a great job looking after relatives, friends and neighbours which can leave them with poor health and poor finances - society owes them a huge debt."
